2018 in Review
I can’t believe it’s already the end of December! It seems like it flew by but at the same time so much has happened. I’m so excited to start the new year and then flow right into my favorite month of the year (Feb #birthdaymonth). This year I’m using the Cultivate What Matters Power Sheets to map out my goals and I’m really pumped to start using it.
BIG WINS FOR THIS YEAR:
Attended Jillian Anderson & Anastasia Holland’s Business Retreat in Tulum - This retreat was so incredible it’s hard to put into words. I met a lot of amazing women and life long friends. It was also the first time that I met Jillian and Ana in person, they are some of my first design clients! I took away so much from this event, including upping my rates which set the tone for the whole year.
Launched Rooted the Journal! - After being inspired at the retreat in Tulum, I decided to create Rooted. I ran beta tests, made changes and hired some awesome artists to design the covers. I am so proud of this!!
Worked with a lot of amazing new clients!! I had a lot of dream clients this year and I can’t wait to work with them more in 2019!
Launched the Pixel Planners with Holly Pixels! - I’ve been so pumped to work on this project with Holly. It’s so fun to use my creative juices to come up with new ideas and to create fun ways for others to plan. I LOVE PLANNING!
Attended the With Grace and Gold Workshop in Minnesota - This workshop was game changing! I learned so much about improving my processes and making my business more legit. I also met a lot of amazing women who are working towards the same goals. It was excellent.
Launched a T-Shirt business with my Bestie - Elevater Apparel launched! I love making these fun shirts.
Took a month long sabbatical from client work in September - I have a lot of changes I would make to this process BUT I took the month off, relaxed and hiked in Europe with my husband and it was incredible. I had some client issues while I was gone which I’ll talk about below in my improvements.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
Sabbatical process - This was my first year taking time off from client work and I did have some issues with projects not being wrapped up in time. I think next year I will stop taking clients two months before the sabbatical date. This would look like: Take clients Jan 1, no clients again until April 1. Take March off. That way the projects from January have enough time to wrap up and I’ll be around to answer any questions or concerns. Also, hire an assistant during this time period.
Course addiction - Anyone else out there buy like 50 courses and only finish one?? Whoops. I’ll admit I have a problem, I love the idea of learning. So my goal for next year is to work through these and actually do the learning instead of just accumulating online courses.
Content! - Next year I plan to focus way more on providing helpful content to you! This year I didn’t do any blogging and rarely posted on social media. Next year there will be more posts and more freebies!
COMING SOON
Pre-made Branding - I’m excited to launch some pre-made branding in the first quarter of next year! This will be an amazing opportunity to get your own brand for a reduced fee. If you’re just starting your business and you don’t have the funds to hire a designer, this a great unique option!
More Pixel Planner Designs - Holly and I are working on all sorts of new inserts and stickers for the Pixel Planners and I am so excited. Also check out the new home page. How cute is Holly’s gardener graphic? Such a great representation of who she is as a person, she has helped me grow so much this year as a designer.
More Clients! - I can’t wait to work with new clients in the new year and continue to work with my current clients. I’m really looking forward to what projects come up!
